Notes of Sea Air, Cold Beer, and Funnel Cake

Difficulty: Medium (a bit long, but flat)

There’s nothing better than a slightly off season trip to the Coney Island Boardwalk; not too hot, nice breeze, and not crowded.  Cruise down the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway. Once you hit the boardwalk catch those evening sea breezes and grab a beer at the never crowded Paul’s Daughter.  It’s a great spot to people watch and check out the boardwalk nightlife. Hop on the train back or ride back up Ocean Parkway.

What to do: After you ride that whole way you’ll want some sustenance . Check out Paul’s Daughter on the Boardwalk for some beer, funnel cake or hot dogs. Dangle your feet over the water out on the Steeplechase Pier. Catch a minor league baseball game over at MCU Park with the Brooklyn Cyclones. Try some brews at Coney Island Brewery or post up on the boardwalk and people watch. (Worth it)

How to get there: Pick up the bike lane on 5th Avenue in Brooklyn going south.  After passing scenic Greenwood Cemetary, take a right on 30th Street. Passing through Industry City take a left on 2nd Ave.  Pass the historic Brooklyn Army Terminal and take a right after the highway to pick up the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway. Take the waterfront route under the Verrazano Bridge.  Follow Shore Parkway, then a right onto Cropsey Ave. You’ll dead end into MCU Park where you can catch a Brooklyn Cyclones Baseball game. Hop up on the boardwalk and head for the nearest beer.  Catch the subway back or follow the Ocean Parkway Bike Path (one of the oldest bike lanes in the country!)

Let us know how it went!

Cheers.
